Engineering Certification

Engineering certification in Quotec is based on the site location of the proposed building. The location selected when creating a job is therefore an important part of the engineering process, rather than simply an address that appears on your documentation.

Why Does Quotec Need the Site Location?

A building's engineering requirements can be influenced by where it will be constructed.

When you select a site address, Quotec uses the geographic location of that property to obtain the relevant site-specific information required for engineering, including the applicable wind conditions for that location.

This means that two otherwise identical buildings proposed for different locations may not necessarily have the same engineering requirements.

The site location established when you create the job is carried through the engineering process and forms part of the information against which the building is assessed and ultimately certified.

The site address is not simply a postal or customer address. It identifies the geographic location against which the engineering for your building is assessed.

For this reason, it is important to identify the actual location where the building will be constructed before purchasing engineering.

Selecting the Correct Site

When creating a new job, Quotec will ask you to search for the proposed building address.

Where the address is available, select the correct property from the search results and check that the location shown corresponds with the actual building site.

Before continuing, check:

• the street number and street name;

• the suburb, state and postcode; and

• the location displayed for the property.

Do not select a neighbouring property, similar street address or approximate location simply to progress through the address search.

This is particularly important for newly established subdivisions, recently created addresses and subdivided properties where third-party address information may not yet have been updated.

What if I Can't Find My Address?

Quotec uses a third-party address service to identify site locations. Occasionally, an exact address may not yet be available through the standard address search.

If you cannot find the correct address, select I can't find address and use the Manual Address Search.

The Manual Address Search provides an alternative way to identify the property and establish the correct location of the proposed building.

Still Can't Find the Site?

In limited circumstances, a site may not be identifiable through either the standard address search or Manual Address Search.

This can occur, for example, in newly established areas where address and mapping information has not yet been updated by the third-party provider.

Where this occurs, Quotec Support may be able to perform a manual pin drop to establish the correct site location.

Please send a request to support@quotec.com.au and provide:

• your Job Number;

• the full site address or available property details;

• the latitude of the proposed building site; and

• the longitude of the proposed building site.

The latitude and longitude must identify the actual location of the proposed building.

Quotec Support will first confirm that the site cannot be located through the normal address search processes before completing a manual pin drop.

Manual pin drops are only available in limited circumstances where the correct site cannot be identified using either the standard or Manual Address Search.

Check Your Site Before Purchasing Engineering

Before purchasing engineering certification, take a moment to confirm that the job has been created against the correct site.

For example, if engineering is purchased for:

11 Willing Street

but the proposed building is actually being constructed at:

9 Willing Street

this cannot simply be treated as an address correction after engineering has been issued. The engineering was commissioned and certified against the site information associated with 11 Willing Street.

Important

Once engineering has been purchased and issued, the site address cannot simply be changed on the existing job.

If engineering has been issued against an incorrect site, you will need to create a new job using the correct site address and purchase a new engineering certification.

Address Search Process

When establishing the site for your job, follow this process:

1. Standard Address Search

Search for and select the exact site address.

1. Manual Address Search

If the address cannot be found, select I can't find address and use the Manual Address Search to identify the site.

1. Contact Quotec Support

If the site still cannot be identified, email support@quotec.com.au with your Job Number, site details, latitude and longitude.

4. Manual Pin Drop

Where the site genuinely cannot be located using the third-party address tools, Quotec Support may perform a manual pin drop to establish the correct site location.
